Difficulty Rating: Challenging
This 2-night, 3-day backpacking trip is a physically and mentally demanding adventure designed for those ready to push their limits. Summiting and descending Half Dome involves approximately 2,700 feet of elevation gain and loss, with sections of steep, rugged & rocky terrain that require stamina, focus, and determination.
While you’ll carry a 30-40 pound backpack during the approach to camp, the summit day is less weight-intensive—you’ll only need a lighter day pack for the climb up Half Dome’s iconic cables. This thrilling and exposed ascent rewards your effort with breathtaking views, making every step worth it.
